A sensational first season with Chelsea for Cole Palmer could be capped off by writing himself into the Premier League record books.
The 21-year-old sits joint-top with Erling Haaland in the race for the Castrol Golden Boot on 20 goals.
Nine of those 20 strikes have come from the penalty spot, and should Palmer score his next two spot-kicks, he would equal not one but TWO Premier League records.
Perfect from 12 yards
Palmer sits alongside former Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United and Fulham striker Dimitar Berbatov in the ranking of players who have scored the most penalties while maintaining a 100 per cent conversion rate from the spot.
Yaya Toure currently holds the record, with 11 successful penalties from as many attempts.

Aiming to go one better than Toney
Prior to facing Newcastle United in April 2023, Ivan Toney had a perfect record from the spot in the Premier League.
He had scored all 10 of his penalties, and he had the chance to equal Toure's record of 11, but his effort was saved by Nick Pope.
Ironically, Toney went on to score a penalty later in the same match.
Can anyone else get to 11?
Palmer isn't the only player who can reach Toure's figure, with two current Premier League players still able to get to 11.
Fulham duo Raul Jimenez and Willian have both scored all seven of their penalties in the competition, with the latter scoring twice from the spot in a dramatic win against Wolverhampton Wanderers in November.
How many penalties have Chelsea's upcoming opponents conceded?
Chelsea face Aston Villa, Spurs, West Ham United, Nottingham Forest, Brighton & Hove Albion and AFC Bournemouth in their final six matches of the campaign.
Palmer can feel confident of reaching 11 goals from the spot, as four of those six sides have conceded at least six penalties so far this season.
Team | Penalties conceded |
---|---|
West Ham | 10 |
Bournemouth | 6 |
Brighton | 6 |
Spurs | 6 |
Nott'm Forest | 3 |

Who has scored the most penalties in a single season?
The second record Palmer has in his sights is the total number of penalties scored in a single campaign.
Andrew Johnson currently holds the record, converting 11 times from the spot in 2004/05 with Crystal Palace.
Palmer is currently level alongside Bruno Fernandes, who scored nine penalties in 2020/21.
